Treatment for Substance Use Support for Co-Occurring Disorders

Drug or alcohol use is sometimes part of a teen’s story along with depression or anxiety. Hidden Brook Academy offers treatment for substance use that may co-occur with mental health disorders.

Dual-diagnosis care here is shaped by clinical assessment, personal history, mental health needs, and the support that makes sense for your teen’s unique needs.

Treatment That Meets Your Teen Where They Are

Teenagers grappling with anxiety, depression or other mental health conditions may seek to ‘self-medicate’ their own symptoms. Innocent attempts to find relief can give way to drug or alcohol dependence.

At Hidden Brook Academy, we treat substance use disorders that co-occur with a primary mental health diagnosis. For any adolescent treatment solution to be complete, it must identify and address any challenges head-on.

HOW TREATMENT IS SHAPED

The Substance Matters. So Does Everything Around It.

Substance use does not happen in isolation. Hidden Brook considers the patterns around use, mental health symptoms, relationships, daily functioning, recovery history, and the support available after treatment.

  • Comprehensive clinical assessment
  • Individualized treatment planning
  • Mental health and substance use support
  • Family involvement when clinically appropriate
  • Discharge and continuing-care planning

WHEN MENTAL HEALTH IS PART OF THE STORY

Substance Use and Mental Health Can Be Part of the Same Picture.

Substance use and mental health concerns can occur together. When they do, care should consider how those concerns interact rather than treating each part of the experience in isolation.

Mental Health

Mood, anxiety, trauma, sleep, stress, and other concerns.

Substance Use

Patterns of use, triggers, consequences, history, and current needs.

One Individualized Care Plan

Assessment, coordinated care planning, and ongoing clinical review.

BEYOND TREATMENT

Recovery Has to Work Outside of Treatment, Too.

What happens after a treatment program matters. Continuing-care planning can help connect progress made in treatment with the routines, relationships, providers, and support systems a person may need afterward.

Is treatment confidential?

Absolutely. Rest assured, we protect your family's privacy in accordance with all local, state and federal laws, including HIPAA.

What happens during the first phone call?

We’ll discuss any concerns you have about your teen, explain our program and answer your questions.
